Commonly asked questions
Now more than ever, it’s important to connect with one another and be a source of hope and kindness to our friends, family, and neighbors. Increasing isolation and loneliness are a serious concern, especially among seniors. We know it will take a concerted effort from citizens, neighborhoods, private companies, local governments, and nonprofits to get through this time. For people with an interest in service and connecting with elders, being a Mon Ami volunteer is an incredible opportunity to connect with people you wouldn’t otherwise get to know and to serve those in your community.
Volunteers support seniors through regular friendly phone calls or errand runs for essentials like groceries and prescriptions.
If being a Mon Ami volunteer sounds like a great fit for you, the best thing to do is apply through our website here.
We expect volunteers to call their senior 1-2 times a week for approximately 30 minutes per call, and to commit to at least 3 months of regular contact.
The safety of our seniors and volunteers is everything to us. Based on public health guidance, we’ve drafted these safety guidelines for volunteers assisting with errand runs.
Mon Ami uses PayPal to reimburse volunteers. You are reimbursed after your errand when you’ve submitted a copy of the receipt and your errand recap.
Reimbursements are usually processed within 2-3 business days of submitting your errand run recap after an errand run is completed. If you don't receive the reimbursement within 2-3 business days, feel free to reach out and we will take a look.
